U-7c Saturday report 31st Oct '09 Knocklyon away to Broadford

U-7c Saturday report 31st Oct '09 Knocklyon away to Broadford

Knocklyon arrived at Broadford for their much anticipated rematch with the Rovers to-day. In the corresponding home fixture, Knocklyon somehow lost 3-1 to this tough Broadford team despite being the better team on the day. The match kicked off with Knocklyon keeping it tight at the back with good defending from Jack Larkin, David Keegan and Jack Creedon.

Midfielders Ciaran Fox and Conor played some nice football showing lots of early promise. Joe fed the ball up to a busy John Baxendale up front.

Broadford took the lead in the first half and doubled their score with a lucky deflection to take a 2-0 lead into half-time despite Andrew Moran saving some powerful shots from the Broadford attack.

Newcomer Nathan Mullen making his debut impressed with Shane Browne and Jamie McCarthy contributing plenty to the team. Some tough tackling and a slice of good fortune led to a third goal from Broadford.

David impressed in goal for the 2nd half and shut Broadford out for the most part. John pulled a goal back for Knocklyon. A frantic finish would see Knocklyon spend most of the half in Broadford's penalty area but just couldn't convert any further chances. Team player of the week was awarded to Conor Kennedy who worked tirelessly for the team and can count himself unlucky not to get a goal to-day.

All 11-players played and all 11-players spent time on the bench as well and they all contributed to a great team effort.

The lads can go and enjoy their trick or treating later knowing they really gave their all to-day.
