Knocklyon 7c Saturday team won a gripping encounter on Saturday 17th Oct v St Francis. The away side arrived at Delaford Park hoping to avenge their 5-4 defeat at the hands of Knocklyon back in Sept. However, Knocklyon had other ideas. David scored in the 1st minute with a brilliant run to put St Francis on the back-foot right from the opening whistle. Knocklyon would go on to dominate the 1st half with good performances from Joe, Jack C, Conor and Jamie in midfield and supported admirably by John and Ciaran at the back. Andrew W posed a threat to St Francis' defence. David bagged another goal after 10 mins. Andrew M would go on to keep a clean sheet in the 1st half to shut out St Francis and Knocklyon took a 2-0 lead into the 2nd half. St Francis fought back bravely in the 2nd half getting a goal back soon after the break. The turning point in the match proved to be a great penalty save from David to avoid St Francis leveling the scores. Shane finished off the game in goal and acquitted himself well. David capped a brilliant performance with his hat-trick and deservedly picked up the team player of the week after his heroics. This Knocklyon team have nothing to fear and go from strength to strength with each game that passes and will look forward to the upcoming return legs against the remaining teams in 7c.
